It's not only the valley that's green. It not only the website either!

We wanted to make our homes as green as possible so here's what we did.

We insulated: 

• Bowenvale View, despite being 69 years young, has wall insulation that we retro-fitted during our renovations. This helps with comfort (ie the inside temperature doesn't vary as much) and it helps with energy consumption.
• Bowenvale Beauty was built from the ground up with energy efficiency in mind. In fact from below ground as we insulated the foundations as well as the walls and roof!

We chose energy efficient heating:

• Our properties have heatpumps which convert between 1 unit of electricity into about three units of heat.
• Bowenvale Beauty even has a heatpump helping to heat the hot water.
• Bowenvale View uses a very efficient gas water heating system for instant hot water.

We chose Meridian as our electricity provider:

• Meridian is New Zelaland's leading Hydroelectric power generator who is now starting to build wind farms.

We installed a sensible mix of cooking appliances:

• We installed Gas cooktops - faster heating up
• We installed electric fan ovens - quicker cooking at lower temperatures
• We installed microwave cooker - fast efficient warming, heating and cooking food.
